Daylight Savings is kicking our ass here (eg. Holy crap it’s almost 2pm & I’ve done nothing).

FASHION
Air New Zealand Fashion Week is now well and truly over, but it hasn’t stopped people talking about it. And what are they talking about? Pamela Anderson, of course.
The antics of turning up to her press conference in nothing but a scarf; and really wearing not a whole of anything while in New Zealand.

Denise L’estrange Corbet of World (which turns 21 next year) wasn’t impressed “The point of Fashion Week is that we sell out products to overseas buyers. They don’t come to sell their things to us

Just one big PR stunt really, even if they aren't talking about our designers at least they are talking about our Fashion Week. Ahem, yes I know that's kinda not the point!

FASHION//THROW BACK
Walking past Supre and checking out there website, it’s not hard to see that we are still stuck in the “80’s/early 90’s throw back”. The ugly prints that look like bad curtains (“The Granny Print”), the brightly coloured stretch skirts that sit on the waist…all of those things that we said we would NEVER wear again, well somebody thinks they are awesome still and have brought them back for another season.
And if that wasn’t bad enough now Supre comes in XXL!

THROW THE SHIT BACK!!!

FASHION//A SHEW IN
I don’t know how many of you have been into a Farmers store lately, but while strolling through St Lukes mall yesterday I thought I would go in and have a lookie. And to my surprise Farmers now stock shoes by Levis (and also GAP & a couple of other labels).

The Levi’s shoes are high tops & low tops (very similar to the traditional Converse style), available in black, white or sequined and range from $79.99 to $99.99.

FASHION//RIP
The founder of GAP, Don Fisher, died over the weekend in San Francisco at the age of 81.

Thirty-five garments created by aspiring designer teen’s from around New Zealand are on display upstairs at Rialto in Newmarket, Auckland until 5pm, Sunday the 4th of October.

The People’s Choice category enables the public to have their say and be into win a $500 Rialto Centre shopping voucher. So if you are in Auckland get down to the Rialto in Newmarket to cast your vote!

The winner of the People’s Choice and the overall winner of the Newmarket Young Fashion Designer Award will be announced at the award’s evening and fashion show on the 20th of October at the Raye Freedman Arts Centre.

MUSIC//1, 2, 3 CRANK IT
Britney Spears has released the first single, 3, off her up and coming album “The Singles Collection” (original title huh?). It premiered on Z100, naturally in America.
Check it out below…

1) The song is about threesomes!
2) It was written and produced by the genius that is Max Martin, the Swedish hitmaker behind "Baby One More Time" and countless other hits.
3) The song is damn catchy!

MUSIC//FREE WARSAW
Groove Armada are out with a new single, “Warsaw”. It reminds me a lot of the “Marie Antoinette” soundtrack, so I’m not sure if I like it yet. I think it will be one of those “possibly grow on you” tracks. No doubt it won’t do too bad in the charts and there is no need to look for it and download it dodgy styles.

Groove Armada have it available for download from their website. All you have to is fill out the form on their site, they send you a “PIN” via email, put your PIN into the website and there you have it…a legal copy of “Warsaw”.

As awesome as this is (and you don’t have to sign up to the mailing list for it), it may take a while for the PIN email to come through and it’s only 192Kbps.

groovearmada.com to get it people!

MUSIC//THIS IS IT

Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” is hitting cinemas on Wednesday 28th October. It is a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the performer as he developed, created and rehearsed for his sold-out concert that would have taken place beginning this summer in London’s O2 Arena.

F.O.F (FULL OF FAIL)

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Yay, it’s the first of the 119 Plus blogs.

Where to start & where to go aren’t things that have been figured out yet, but we will get there. Not sure if this is going to be a daily or a weekly thing yet either.

But enjoy xxx

FASHION
NZ Fashion Week is over, so go hug a socialite.

The one story that stood out for me was nothing to do with Pammy Anderson & Richie Rich, but with a label more close to home.

Trelise Cooper’s runway parade on Wednesday features a little grey jersey; funny thing is Rachel Glucina from the NZ Herald recognised it as being very similar to a top she had tired on in London recently.

Trelise Cooper told the Herald on Sunday that the design was offered to her in April, but it looks like that it was also offered to Top Shop.

Campbell Live producer, Claudine Maclean reckoned she could copy them both…and so, she did.

Grey Top from Princess Nicoles Wardrobe on Dominion Road - $25.00
2M Sequin Ribbon from Geoff’s Emporium - $4.00
Light Pink Basic Ribbon from Geoff’s Emporium - $1.40
A Packet of Sequins from Geoff’s Emporium - $1.00
TOTAL COST - $31.40

MUSIC//COME TO NZ
The one person that we are dying to see down here in little New Zealand is Little Boots.

The worst part about it is, she is currently touring Australia (even going to Perth) but isn't coming here...come on promoters, give the people what they want AND a flight to NZ is just as long as flying to Perth.

Maybe we all need to bug Warner Music New Zealand...hahaha!
